Naropa University, an 800 student liberal and contemplative arts college, located in Boulder, Colorado, comprises twelve buildings on 3.7 acres in an impacted urban setting. The Institute has experienced phenomenal growth resulting in substantial overcrowding and overuse of the existing campus facility.

Through a comprehensive design process involving open meetings and design charettes, including student representatives, faculty and administrative staff, an organizational scheme was devised creating a campus program and phased master plan.

This plan reorganized the campus through additions and selective demolition. A series of open spaces surrounded by buildings was designed to create a new sense of social and academic community, as well as an overall campus identity.

Cost: Estimated $7 M.
