Established in 1986, ArchitectureDenver is a small, regionally focused
design practice intent on exploring qualities in the design process
that will allow our work to transcend the perceptions of architecture
found in today's society. Our process is grounded in fusing the
applied art and the applied science of architecture to produce work
that is appropriate, tactile and focused on the specifics of a
project's reality in its place and time. This effort does not involve
stylistic or regionalist investigations but fundamental explorations
of space and form. The result is a dialogue between building, context
and user on a symbolic, social, and cultural level.

Choosing Denver to base our practice, a growing urban
environment with no established contemporary tradition of architecture
or urban design, consciously isolates us from much of the ongoing
stylistic discussions or the design mementum of an existing "school" of
thought. This lack of tradition (or lack of baggage) has allowed us to
develop our work quietly; thinking and exploring ideas unimpeded by the
weight of local vernacular or current fashion.
As an extension of our design process, we aggressively pursue whatever role
allows the greatest impact by the architect on the project and context.
This tactic has resulted in opportunities to work on diverse project types
directing nontraditional design teams and moving across disciplines,
even sometimes assuming the client, contractor or developer role to
realize our design intent. We do not specialize but pursue projects of
any scale that we believe will support the continuity of our approach.
